About
An Introduction to Carbon Strategists
The Problem
The concentration of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere has increased nearly 52% over pre-industrial levels. The increase in concentration has caused unwanted changes in the Earth’s environment. Regulations have been put in place to reduce the rate of increase in carbon dioxide levels, including the Paris Agreement of 2015 adopted by 196 parties. Many of these regulations are designed to threaten the continued operation of facilities which cannot be brought into compliance economically. Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) programs are now being implemented throughout the world. International organizations are advocating strongly for all carbon dioxide emissions to be halved by 2030 and net-zero emission achieved by 2050 per the Paris Agreement.
Our Solution
The only pragmatic place to sequester carbon dioxide is in the rock formations of the Earth: the original resting place of the carbon. The quantities are huge - millions of tons per year. Efforts to capture and store carbon dioxide are presently focused on large single point sources such as power generation plants. Step change improvements in carbon capture processes occur frequently. The continuously improving technologies in place at such large point sources are, and will be, accumulating vast amounts of CO2. This gas will need to be sequestered.
The expertise and technology to safely and effectively sequester carbon dioxide is proven, but not widely deployed. Potential disposal reservoirs must be evaluated thoroughly for suitability. Processes for identifying an appropriate and safe underground storage location for CO2 is an arduous effort requiring the talents of a multi-disciplinary team of geoscientists and engineers. Carbon Strategists has unmatched experience predicting reservoir performance and barrier viability, designing surface facilities, and planning well construction. Our organization is also capable of evaluating opportunities for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) using captured carbon dioxide for injection operations.
Soft skills are emphatically critical in any project where technical limits are approached and delineated. Carbon Strategists exemplifies servant leadership, and the craft of enhancing human performance by optimizing organizational capability. Our global experiences have been recognized as developing communities of unique excellence. We recognize the value of healthy relationships, of respect, and of friendships.
Planning for well design, control, and EOR requires a firm grasp of the in-situ rock mechanics, reservoir characteristics, and pressure response. Carbon Strategists can quantitatively predict empirically measurable variables, and provide accurate, reliable results for the planning and implementation of carbon dioxide sequestration programs. Our thorough procedures will build the confidence necessary for individual and organizational growth in this rapidly evolving industry sector.
